Culture

Art
Art classes are given to all grades, to stimulate their early creativity. The school have lately achieve cood results in the following competitions:

- Tshwane Metro Competition
The artworks submitted by Bathokwa Primary pupils have won the school a computer. Bathokwa also received a acknowledgement for the most entries submitted for the competition.

- Segarona Art Competition
The topic of the competition was ?One Nation, Many Cultures? and the learners performed very well, with one learner also going through to provincial level!

- South Africa Post Office Competition
The topic of this competition ?How the Post Office helps me and the world? really had the creative juices flowing, after entering many works of art, we still await the results.


Choir
The School boasts with a mixed as well as a girls choir, performing a repertoire of Traditional folks Songs. Since 2000 the school choir has also represented the district on provincial level every year.


Traditional dancing
Bathokwa has 3 different dancing disciplines in which learners can compete:

- Pedi Dancing
Traditional style cultural dancing, wearing Scottish kilts. The reason why Scottish Kilts are still traditionally worn by the Pedi Tribe members is due to a historical battle, fought against Scottish troops, where the Pedi tribe refused to fight against an army of woman and lost the battle.

- Quaza-Quaza
Dancing done by mainly boys. It is a mixture of Western and African dancing, done wearing tekkies (shoes).

- Pansola Dancing
A traditional dancing style from the township.


Creative Writing
Pupils from Bathokwa have entered the Pick ?n Pay ? Jelly Tots competition. The topic was the ?sea? and as a prize the winners will be taken on a field trip to the sea, where many will see the ocean for the first time.
